Libertad Avenue

“Life is like riding a bike. To stay balanced, you have to keep moving.”
Albert Einstein
I pedal, and the wind caresses my face. I feel the cold air. My heart is beating. The city flashes before my eyes: the café on the corner, the flowers at the kiosk. One more curve, one more hill. Fast, slow. I carry the rhythm of the city in my feet. Life runs through my veins.
“One day, while cycling, I was thinking about how to repair some shoes that were new but had worn soles. Beautiful shoes, but destined for the trash. And I thought of my father and said: I’ll make shoes that can be repaired over and over again, so you can enjoy them until you get tired of pedaling. That’s how Libertad Avenue was born.”
Carla Peirano, founder. From the very beginning, from the original idea, at Libertad Avenue, we lay our foundations in sustainability. Because sustainability is our way of seeing the world; we understand it no other way. At Libertad Avenue, we always look for the most ecological way possible to carry out every part of the process, from the choice of materials to create long-lasting products, to recognizing the value of the work of the people who collaborate with us.
We are Libertad Avenue. That’s who we are. We love bikes, we live in the city, and we adore nature. We are seduced by good design, we are crazy about color, we believe that the joy of living is contagious. The world is our home, and we take care of our home. We are urban cyclists. We are Libertad Avenue.
Our values reflect the goal of creating cycling-inspired products that support our lifestyle.
Being alive. Feeling the wind on your face, letting yourself be inspired by what you find along the way. Going fast enough to move forward but slow enough to observe. Understanding that comfort is essential for daily riding.
The earth expects respect from us. Being ecological and sustainable is a way of doing things that encompasses every one of our processes. The choice of materials, the people we work with, and the way we do things.
We want to be close to people, to feel the value of the collective. Our products recognize the textile and craft traditions that have always been with us. Our cornerstone is working with respect.
We crave the speed and freedom that a bicycle provides in our daily lives. We research and source materials that allow us to create durable, bold, and casual products.
6 key features you’ll find in our products
People: From Latin gens, gentis. 1. f. Plurality of people.
People, people, are our focus. We want to work respecting the human rhythm. After all, the bicycle has trained us to follow that rhythm. We strive to put people at the center of every step of our product production. This is one of the (many) reasons why we choose to manufacture locally. Sharing the same language and customs facilitates communication with producers and greatly improves product traceability, allowing us to verify that the process is indeed sustainable and that the people involved perform their work under fair conditions and receive fair pay. Furthermore, we also work with initiatives that provide space for people facing social exclusion or with varying degrees of disability.
