The reasons why Libertad Avenue chooses to manufacture locally

This was one of the first and clearest decisions since the beginning of Libertad Avenue: that manufacturing would be done locally, as close to Km 0 as possible. Some may wonder why this is so important, but the answer is very simple:

Manufacturing locally is better

And it’s better for many reasons. First, proximity to the producer: speaking the same language, meeting them in person, being able to visit them during the process. Second, reducing carbon emissions during transportation. Third, increasing product traceability to ensure that all processes are carried out in the most sustainable way possible. And there’s more: promoting local industry, creating and maintaining jobs here, where we need them. Local and nearby consumption is a key element in reactivating the economy through consumption and fostering more sustainable and self-sufficient societies.

For all these reasons, at Libertad Avenue, we decided that all our footwear and accessories would be manufactured entirely on the Iberian Peninsula. The vast majority of our products are manufactured in Spain, and we even have some suppliers from the Basque Country. We started from the concept that being 100% sustainable isn’t possible, but it is a utopia we can work toward, step by step. And so we are.
